چکیده
The distribution of juvenile Pagellus erythrinus (Linnaeus, 1758) species was studied by the abundance, density and habitat preferences in the shallow waters of Gökçeada. Fish samples were obtained in experimental beach seine and beam trawl surveys carried out between 2013 June to 2014 May in the shallow waters of Gökçeada. To understand the habitat preferences of the species, sediment samples were collected and sediment composition was determined by grain size distribution analysis. The spatial distribution of juvenile Pagellus erythrinus species in relation to the habitat structure was estimated and modelled using Geographic Information System (GIS) and geostatistical tools. It was observed that juvenile Pagellus erythrinus species prefer the rocky areas which in 5-10 m water depth in the shallow waters of Gökçeada.

The ontogeny of the alimentary tract and its associated structures (liver, pancreas, gall bladder) was compared between sharpsnout sea bream Diplodus puntazzo and Pagellus erythrinus and some differences were highlighted. The first goblet cells appeared earlier in sharpsnout seabream (5-7 DAH) and later in common pandora (9-11 DAH), as well as taste buds which appeared at 11 DAH in sharpsnout s...

Following the report of suckermouth catfish (Hypostomus plecostomus) from Anzali Wetland, the present study was conducted to review the biological and ecological characteristics of this species and its effects on aquatic ecosystems. A literature review revealed that the suckermouth catfish is native to South America and one of the most popular species in the ornamental fish industry. This speci...

The male of the gonad-infecting nematode Philometra filiformis (Stossich, 1896) (Philometridae) is for the first time described, based on specimens from the ovary of the marine fish Pagellus erythrinus (Linnaeus) from the Tyrrhenian Sea off Sicily, Italy. It is mainly characterized by the testis extending anteriorly nearly to the anterior end of body, the oesophagus without a usual anterior inf...
متن کاملExploring a Nonmodel Teleost Genome Through RAD Sequencing—Linkage Mapping in Common Pandora, Pagellus erythrinus and Comparative Genomic Analysis
Common pandora (Pagellus erythrinus) is a benthopelagic marine fish belonging to the teleost family Sparidae, and a newly recruited species in Mediterranean aquaculture. The paucity of genetic information relating to sparids, despite their growing economic value for aquaculture, provides the impetus for exploring the genomics of this fish group. Genomic tool development, such as genetic linkage...
